Anglophone Program.


The Academic Upgrading Program provides training in English, maths, sciences, computer skills, and study skills. It offers LBS Levels 3 (limited), 4, 5, and OBS IV.

It is especially appropriate for learners who:
(a) have not completed high school,
(b) completed high school some time ago and need to review,
(c) need specific grade equivalent subjects to prepare for further training.

Learners should be mature students, 19 years of age or older; however, younger learners may be accepted in special circumstances. Although the primary focus is on preparation for post-secondary, skills or trades training, learners also go directly to employment.

Anglophone Program


This program is designed for adult learners 19 years of age or older (some exceptions apply). The program offers fundamental numeracy and literacy training, focusing on LBS Levels 1 to 3, although training may extend to LBS 5 in some circumstances.
Learners may choose to join small scheduled classes or work with a volunteer tutor at convenient times and places anywhere on Manitoulin. Of course, the learner may choose to participate in both types of activities. Although the program emphasizes practical skills for employment and for every day life, learners may also continue to other education opportunities

Native program


To be eligible for this program students must reside on Manitoulin Island and be 16 years of age or older, with special emphasis on Ontario Works and Worker's Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). The program offers numeracy and literacy based on MTCU (Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities) standards at LBS Levels 1 to 5.
Students may go on to General Education Development (GED) preparation, secondary school programs or post-secondary programs (college, university, apprenticeships).Computer access

Credit Program


Cambrian offers post-secondary programs as well as credit and non-credit general interest courses. The eligibility requirements and costs vary for each course offered through the school.
Full-time in class programs as well as evening and weekend general interest courses are offered in various communities across the Island

Campus hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.00pm

Courses are offered in three semesters.(Fall, Winter and Spring)

Credit Program


This program is ideal for adults working towards their Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED). Clients are able to prepare by taking core subjects such as science, math and English.
Adults wishing to receive a Secondary School Graduation Diploma also have the option of attending the regular classes offered through the Wikwemikong Board of Education. Computer literacy is taught as part of the regular curriculum to adult learners.


A unique feature of the programming at the Wikwemikong Board of Education, is the option for learners to receive instruction in their first language, whether it be Ojibwe or English. Upon completion of this program clients will have improved their knowledge and skills and will be able to enter/re-enter the workforce, be prepared for post-secondary entry requirements or participate in other specific training.

Early September for initial intake
Enrolment is continuous after first intake with a maximum of 25 students

Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 2:30pm with a ½ hour lunch (12:00 noon to 12:30pm)
